EveryDay Matters

Days, weeks, months fly by and I am often left asking the questions "Where did the time go?" and "Am I living authentically?" Today my children had to bring to school a "lovey" from when they were small. One asked if she could bring me. I gave her a picture of us together. They also brought in with them small stuffed animals with rattles inside. These were from when they were first born. I have pictures of them together, side by side, along with these "lovies." The moose and the bear have heads the size of kiwi. In the pictures, the girl's heads don't look much bigger. How did they go from tiny babies weighing under 5 pounds each to little girls getting on the school bus carrying items from that time long ago? Second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. The days turned to weeks, weeks to months, months to years, and now we are here. Almost seven years later. They will be seven and I am....Well let's just say I have come to a new decade in my life and I am doing some serious self-evaluation.

The name for this blog was very much the influence of my reading a book called "Today Matters" by John C. Maxwell. Every day does count (Every Day Matters) and even the small, commonplace occurrences (everyday matters) contribute to what is my reality. So it is with these thoughts in mind, that I move forward. My intent: to take steps, no matter how small, towards the goals I have set for my self and to be very conscious of exactly where and how I spend my time, actively reminding myself to enjoy and/or at least be in the moment.
